Outrage... Slightly

I am on a few different Narcolepsy groups via Facebook. I have found great comfort in seeing that I am not the only one who suffers and has trouble with this or with that. Recently however, I have read a few things that have caused me great concern. It seems we find ourselves living in a time where no one can be trusted, where you cannot speak freely for fear of being persecuted for it. I have seen evidence of a false testimony being taken and the accused is left to prove their innocence. I must have misunderstood all those years ago in school when I learned that our system runs on the "innocent until proven guilty." Why do we, as parents have to worry about the way we choose to parent... about how it look to others? Why does their opinion matter so much and for that matter what business is it of theirs to be in my business? Am I expected to add to the stress of life as it is by always being prepared to answer to my actions as it appears or concerns someone else? Do I need to fear someone will misunderstand or misconstrue what they see and report me?
I cannot live that way. I refuse to live that way. Being a parent comes with no instruction. No child is the same as another so even if there was an instruction booklet EVERY single child would have their OWN and of course it would need to be tailored to the individual parent(s). My heart goes out to those who are being held accountable to someone else's opinion rather than fact.
