With homeschooling my daughter Z and trying to become more aware as a whole family of our actions and reactions, we have this board where we can track our behavior over the day... its a sort of 'hot or cold' water type of thing.
The warm colors indicate we didn't do so well over the course of the day and the cool colors indicate we kept our 'cool.' Being a parent is hard enough, then when you add in having narcolepsy a whole new set of issues arise. My temperament is skewed by the overwhelming exhaustion I feel on a daily basis. So yes! my husband and I are both accountable to the same standards of this board. We found some thing called the ABC's of Good Character to use as a foundation for how we should act rather than focusing on how we should not act.

I suppose not all parents actively think about what they teach their children, but I must otherwise I may be teaching them in my sleep- who knows if that would be good.
